After picking back up a ball of yarn and a crochet hook, I realized that the reason for me returning to this craft was more than what I knew at the age of 12 years old. It inspired me, calmed me, opened me up to a new family of artisans that were of all cultural backgrounds and so much more.
Fiber With A Cause was created by Karen Baker after a childhood hobby for crochet arose over 5 years ago into a creative business. Since she has added the arts of knitting and weaving to her artistry. After meeting so many fiber artists who desire to pursue their passion fulltime, she decided to design Fiber With A Cause – technique training labs and workshops to encourage and drive those dreams.
I started this blog to go beyond the stereotype that this is as “grandma’s hobby” but an opportunity to change American consumers perception of fiber arts only as a craft of social pleasure for men and women; but a career that bridges gender breaks cultural and economic barriers and is a healing art…#fiberwithacause
