Board of Directors

Fiber With A Cause, Inc. is a benefit corporation formed in November 2021. The structure includes four Board of Directors and the President—all are founding members.

Karen R. Baker – Founder/ President

As Founder of Fiber With A Cause and Ethnographic Fiber Artist + Documentarian, Karen has been weaving and knitting for nine years. She designs ethnically handcrafted textiles, accessories, and rugs using natural and organic fibers and materials. Karen is researching the patterns, dyeing, and weaving techniques and processes of enslaved African American weavers before the Great Migration to fiber and textile design. From the research, she integrates their techniques into her artwork. Karen is completing a scholarly essay for Race in Design History: An Anthology [Clark University and National Museum of African American History and Culture], alongside a documentary on the history and narratives of African American weavers before the Great Migration under her Doctor of Design program at North Carolina State University. Karen is the 2023 DC Commission on the Art and Humanities Fellow. Her work has been presented in the online ex25-year expert in marketing and communications, social impact, and design research. Karen has designed and integrated sustainable solutions and strategies for more than 120 marketing campaigns and initiatives for commercial, federal, state, and nonprofit clients and projects. Savvy in the design, implementation, and execution of short- and long-term strategies for growth. As the 2024 Center for Craft Research Grant recipient and the 2023 DC Commission on the Art and Humanities Fellow, Karen’s work has been featured in the online exhibition Being-With, sponsored by the Surface Design Association and The Fearless Artist Art Basel Miami. Karen is the mother to a teenage superhero son.

Adele Kenworthy – Director/ Secretary

Adele Yiseol Kenworthy is an artist organizer, and her vulnerability is her superpower. She explores how flowers have dyed, draped, and nourished social movements; what it means for socially engaged art to exist as an embodied practice of care; and tends the spaces of cultural memory and art as reimagined heritage work. Adele was in the inaugural cohort of the M.F.A. in Social Practice Art at the Corcoran School of Art and Design. They’ve exhibited at Transformer Gallery, DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, Brentwood Arts Exchange, The Fearless Artist Pop-up Gallery at Art Basel Miami, Gallery 102 at George Washington University, and NEXT (2022) Festival at the Corcoran School of Art and Design. Their work has been featured in The Washington Post, District Fray, Washingtonian, Hyperallergic, and NBC Washington. Her art practice and community are located on the Piscataway and Nacotchtank (Anacostan) traditional lands, also called Washington, D.C.  Adele is the mother of two wonderful children.

Jennifer Baker Schuler – Director/Treasurer

Jennifer Baker is a highly experienced product manager with 20 years of experience creating go-to-market strategies. Her expertise is commercializing new product launches and leveraging consumer, customer, shopper, and category insights to develop commercially relevant selling stories and go-to-market strategies that drive revenue and growth.  Currently, Jenn is the Sr. Manager of Sales Strategy at PurposeBuilt Brands. She has previously led strategies for various brands, including Mr. Coffee, Calphalon, Sunbeam, and Oster, managing omnichannel strategy. Jenn is known for bridging the gap between the customer and brand vision to deliver KPIs. Jenn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in English from the University of Central Florida. She regularly attends industry conferences and workshops to stay updated with the latest marketing trends and best practices. Jennifer is the mother of two amazing kids.

Rachel Dickerson – Director

Rachel Dickerson has worked as a teaching artist and community-based arts advocate in Washington DC since 1999. Her studio practice includes a range of mediums primarily focused on weaving, printmaking, drawing, and mixed media. Along with exhibiting her work in various galleries and private collections, her work was published in a book of poetry entitled A Clinician’s Guide to the Soul by Veneta Masson (Sage Femme Press, © 2007). In addition to her studio practice, she teaches and collaborates to create strong, insightful, and accessible art projects and community-based opportunities.  She was the founder and director of New Community ArtSpace, an art program for all ages in the Shaw neighborhood. She learned to weave at ArtSpace from Maybelle Taylor Bennett, and together, they have been teaching fiber arts classes for nearly 25 years. She managed the DC Creates Public Art Program at the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities for eight years, which allowed her to bring her passion for integrating small and large-scale public art projects to indoor and outdoor public spaces. She is currently the early childhood visual arts teacher at Capital City Public Charter School. She studied art at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC, along with Santa Reparata in Florence, Italy, The University of Cape Coast in Ghana, and Pyramid Atlantic in Hyattsville, MD. Rachel is the mother of two creative siblings.

Tiffany Quivers – Director

Tiffany is an educator, speaker, program designer, and curriculum developer with more than 15 years of experience in training and leadership development. She is a program, curriculum designer, and writer focused on helping people tap into their unlimited potential. Tiffany works with individuals, teams, and organizations to think beyond their present circumstances and create the conditions for maximum growth. Her work intersects my passion (helping all people progress) and my expertise (teaching, leadership, and culture). I’m dedicated to designing learning experiences that engage learners and lead to new conversations and actions. Tiff has been featured in Huffington Post: Inside the Office with Tiffany Quivers: Elevating Leaders to Success, BTM Radio Show, and Voltcast: Feedback and Development are a GiftTiffany Quivers has over twenty years of experience in training, strategy, and leadership development. She is an accomplished facilitator and curriculum developer known for designing learning experiences that engage learners and lead to new conversations and actions. She is a sought-after speaker for organizations such as the Association for Talent Development and The Executive Leadership Council. Tiffany has worked domestically and internationally with organizations to guide and manage change and increase effectiveness. Her experience includes working as a management consultant for Capital One, focusing on creating a culture and high performance amid change. She has been a lead trainer and curriculum designer for Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs projects. Her recent work includes serving as an online moderator for Harvard Business Publishing and leading the successful rollout of an Understanding Racial Bias training to 7,785 employees, with an overall average rating of 90%. Her sincere passion and desire to see individuals and organizations reach their highest potential drives her work. Tiffany holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Hampton University and a Masters in Education from Harvard University. Tiffany is the mother of a teenage superhero son.
