Raised by a Maker: A Crafting Legacy

As this came across my inbox, it made me remember that I am a maker birthed out of the legacy.

My mother taught me how to crochet and sew, skills I still have to this day. I remember my enjoyment of making my own clothes and blankets myself, even with the errors. It was something to lose that desire and not even recognize it until much later in life – 2009. Now during this COVD-19 pandemic, I have picked back up sewing after 11 years of putting it down once again. It even invited in the opportunity to teach my son, who was excited to see a sewing machine, which I was surprised. Yet, it reminded me that I am raising a creative kid and anything that allows him to use his hands, draw or produce, he wants to explore. Enjoy the article.
